Subtlety is crucial!

I haven't seen The Milagro Beanfield War, but I'm definitely adding it to my list. It seems like the narrative really places itself in the midst of all sorts of interesting tensions.

Generally speaking, I've always found stories involving agriculture and fresh water to provide narrative devices that allow us to easily engage concepts of stewardship and our proper relationship to 'The Land' and each other.
